Today was a nice day. We had a leisurely morning and relaxed at breakfast for quite some time. We then brought Mia back to the room and she had a 3 hour nap. While she napped we made phone calls and caught up on the online stuff. At about 3pm we met our guide in the lobby and we went to pick up Mia’s passport and adoption certificate. It is cool knowing she is ours in the eyes of China. After that we went to the other side of Changsha – the city is split in 2 by a river and one side is the business and living side and the other side is where the Universities are located. We saw the oldest University in Hunan and took a bunch of pics. We are touching the Chinese Characters on the wall which will guarantee Kev, Mia and myself long life and good health. On the car ride home Mia was just cracking us up with her laughing. It is so cute. There are a ton of pics. Also, Mia is sitting really well and has been using a high chair. The first day we tried a high chair and she just slipped down. We cant believe how much progress she has made in such a little bit of time. After the Universities we came back to the room and started packing. We made the mistake of thinking that Mia was very tired and should go to bed but we thought we could take her to dinner and she would sleep. That was fine in that she did sleep until we were leaving and was woken up. We took her back to the room and gave her some rice congee and bottle but she could not go to sleep. I walked her down the halls forever it seemed—but nothing. She was so tired she did not know what to do with herself and just cried. I came back to the room and tried more—nothing. I walked her around the hotel—nothing but crying. Finally, it was getting so late (about 9:30pm) that I worried I would wake people in the halls with her crying so I brought her back to our room again and laid her on the bed. She smiled and thought it was play time but Kev and I just acted like we were asleep and that did it. She had no one to play with and finally fell asleep at about 10:15pm. So, I guess lesson learned is that when she needs to go to bed, we need to put her to bed then and not later. WOW this girl can cry!!! We have seen that spicy Hunan girl we were told about—WOW!!!
Anyway, we leave for Guangzhou tomorrow at about 11:30am. Our plane takes off at 2:20pm and we arrive at about 3:20pm. I am looking forward to the change of pace but we really have enjoyed Changsha. I am just soooo tired right now I can hardly type so I am going to go to bed. I will write more tomorrow.
