Happy Half Birthday Mia!!

Today is Mia's half birthday-- she is officially 2 and 1/2!! Whoohooo!! WOW is my girl growing up. I cant believe she is half way to 3-- time flies. She is just about as grown up as can be. Besides completely speaking in full sentences and knowing her letters and sounds, my girl is turning into a challenging yet adorable little girl-- did you hear that-- little girl--not baby anymore. Trippy isn't it!! Anyway, this weekend Mia and I went to get her a hair cut along with a pedicure for me. While there Mia wanted a manicure and I obliged :)

She desperately needed a cut. We did a trip that took about 3/4 of an inch off.

Round brushing makes it look so pretty!!

Not sure why this picture is so small but the lady wanted to make a few more cuts.

Cute little bob. Her baby hairs in the front have grown out a lot and they look like bangs but they are not. I'm trying to grow her hair into the same length bob. It is almost there and once it is all the same length I will grow it out long.

More revisions.

Getting her nails done. The ladies at the salon thought she was just adorable. It cracks me up how so many people are so hesitant to ask if she is adopted or what is her situation but not Asian people. They, with absolutely no hesitation, ask if she is adopted. I like the candor even if it is kind of assuming.

Smiles for mommy-- who by the way was sitting in the chair soaking for her much needed pedicure.

The beautiful finished product.

Ocatillo Wells

Last weekend we went to Ocatillo Wells in the middle the California desert about 30 miles from the Mexico boarder. It is great riding terrain and since this was about the last weekend to ride (gets too hot to ride in the desert) we thought-- why not-- lets get one more weekend in!! We went with all our friends and had a really good time.

Mia enjoyed playing with Kaitlyn and the bubbles (we brought our niece Kaitlyn with us)

Chasing the bubbles

She just had way too much fun running after the bubbles!

Kevin riding Owen's motorcycle around camp

Mommy riding Owen's motorcycle around camp (It was just around camp so I was OK with no helmet)

Ethan and I riding--too fun!!!

Ethan riding on the hills in our camp

I look like a massive amazon woman on the little motorcycle

Owen speeding by

It was quite hot- the last day I think it was in the 90's so when the boys were done riding they would take off their shirts-- it was so funny seeing all their skinny bodies with their shirts off!

They crack each other up!

They drank plenty of liquid as it was wayyyyyy hotttttt!!!
We had a blast and really enjoyed our last desert trip of the season.

Students of the Month

Thanks for all your support with my dad and his angiogram yesterday. The results were that his right coronary artery was 100% blocked but it has compensated and has grown all kinds of little veins that are compensating for the blockage. The said the fact that it has grown all those little veins is really good and it is as if the artery was not blocked at all. His big center artery (not sure the name but they call it the widow maker) was 30% blocked and they said there was nothing they could do to remove the 30% blockage but that they could try to prevent more blockage from happening. He was put on cholesterol meds as well as some other med. They will not do an angioplasty (where they blow out the plaque in the artery) until the artery is 60% blocked so luckily we can stop this now. Anyway, my dad has about 20 pounds to lose and he has been working out pretty regularly so he needs to continue with that but all together with he diet, exercise and meds, I think he will be fine. Thanks so much for your prayers.

The following pictures are from a few weeks ago when both boys won Student of the Month!! It is quite an honor as they only chose one kid per class per month so many kids never get the award-- but both boys did. I was very proud of them!!

Owen going up to get his award.

My proud boy!!

All of the 2nd and 3rd grade Students of the Month

Owen and his teacher Mr. Kooyman. Owen just loves Mr. Kooyman and we do too. He is an awesome teacher- Ethan had him in 3rd as well.

Mr. Kooyman loves Mia and always lets her hang out with the kids while we are there. Mia was sitting with Hannah coloring.

Ethan also won Student of the Month!!! This is all the 4th and 5th grade kids who won.

Ethan and one of his best friends Tanner won this month. They were so surprised. Tanner is such a great kid and a great friend. He lives around the corner from us so we play often together.

When we were leaving the award assemblies band was starting so I took a picture of Kaitlyn (cousin), Ethan and Carson with their trumpets. Cute!
I was very proud of my boys!!

Please pray for my dad

Hi all,

Nothing huge is going on but my dad has had some abnormal heart things and they suspect it may be a blockage so tomorrow they are doing and angioplasty (sp?). If they find a blockage or something worse, they will move onto that surgery right after the angioplasty. So, there is a potential for some major surgery tomorrow so my dad needs prayer. My dad is a pretty healthy guy but this just scares me. This procedure is technically surgery so anytime you go under it is scary so please keep my dad Rich in your prayers. I will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks,

Christy :)

Some Random Things

We went camping this weekend to Ocatillo Wells in the desert as our last trip of the riding season. We left Thursday and just got home at like 9pm tonight. It was a great trip but we did have a little accident. Last night our friends Chuck and Susan finally were able to get out there (they were going to stay until Tuesday) and when they were unloading their trailer a very large Jeep tire was accidentally tossed on their 12 year old Lab- Max- and he died almost immediately. It was horrible and the kids were just freaking out and all the adults were crying and the poor guy who tossed the tire just felt horrible. It was very sad. Needless to say Chuck and Susan packed back up again and went home. It was very sad. As an aside, my parents golden retriever/ Cocker mix who was 20 years old had to be put down this weekend as well. It was very sad but Nevada was old and lived a great life! Anyway, it was a great trip and I will post pictures soon.

I decided to post some pictures that I just loaded from my little camera. There are two events. This first event was a Ducks game we went to with Brian and Heather about a month ago. It was so fun and the kids had a blast.

They had this little event before the game set up and the kids got to play hockey and do all kinds of things. This is Mia posing by the kids little rink.

Kevin and Brian watching the kids play.

The boys!

Mia and Heather

I think this is a funny picture. Kevin and Brian usually look like this-- laughing. They are so funny together.

I love the look Mia has on her face while looking at daddy.

The next couple of pictures are from a little get together we had at our house with some of our friends a few weekends ago. We had Chuck and Susan and kids and Steve and Janine and kids (Steve and Kevin are both motor officers together)

Mia and Hannah (Chuck and Susan's daughter)

Steve and Janine

Steve (Janines husband and Kevins motor partner) and I by the fire pit.

It was a great party!!
I will post pics from camping soon. Have a great week-- mine is crazy busy!!

Please Pray

I posted this on my last post but I wanted to dedicate an entry of its own so that more people would see my blog was updated and would come and read this post. The post starts from the bottom and works its way back to the top.

Update- This is an email sent out by our Sunday School Class from Melissa who is the sister in law of the man who was killed. Please read and pray for this family.

Hello Dear Friends! My amazing brother went home this evening just around 9:00 pm. Shock, grief, anger, physical sickness, hurt has filled this night heavily on our hearts. Rich was getting the mail after coming home from taking Jordyne and Kyle to Laser Tag. He was struck and thrown. I do not believe he felt pain, I believe his injuries were so extensive and God was gracious to take him from that. I thank God he saved Rich from so much pain. It is still our deepest desire that he would be with us... however God's desires and plans for us are greater than ours. There are so many questions that have filled our minds and hearts. Kyle, my nephew who has high functioning autism witnessed the entire scene. He was able to give the officers and I good info on the car. They have so far not been able to recover the vehicle or the driver. The driver did leave a trail of his/her car for a few miles...but no car has been found. Please pray specifically forPeace, Comfort and HOPE for our familyFor my dear sister Michi, Cody and KyleDecisions that will need to be made in the days aheadFor a successful arrest of the individual who took my brothers lifeFor our Anger, Hurt and physical well beingFor Kyle as he continues to process what he saw and the events of this night for many, many, many years to comeFinancesAs we sat and digested the night as a family, looking at the past couple weeks leading up to this night, it is so obvious to see God's hand in preparing our hearts for even death of this amazing man we all love. Thank you for praying and reading...my sister and the boys, my parents... all of us know we are loved by an God given support system.Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for praying...please continue the days ahead will be very hard.

URGENT PRAYER NEEDED!!
I just got off the phone with my brother who informed me of some tragic news. Our long time family friends who we have known from church for many many years just had a tragic loss. Rich, the father, was somehow hit by car (total hit and run) and he was killed. The junior high age son saw the whole accident. This literally happened within the last 45 minutes so we do not know more than just the little bit I posted. Please pray for this family. Pray for Michi (the mom) and their two sons (Kody and Kyle) as they deal with this horrific accident. Rich was a Christian and we thank The Lord that he is now in Heaven with Jesus. Please lift up this family in their time of need and pray for comfort and that the Lord will wrap His arms around them. This is just so tragic. I cant believe I just wrote this. This just breaks my heart.
Brad just told me that there are helicopters and cops everywhere searching for the guy who hit and killed Rich. I had also initially reported that Michi was out of town but she was not- she was home when this happened as well as her sister and brother in law so they were there right when it happened.

Before I begin, I still may post a few things but there was a small change in plans for the clothes. I will let you know later.

Easter Sunday was great. Mommy was a little slow and forgot to get Easter baskets so off to the store on Sunday morning mommy went. I headed to the only store open at that hour- Stater Brothers- and got basically what they had left of Easter candy and a few cheesy toys. I came home, made the baskets (tossed a little bit of money into the boys baskets-- that made it a lot better) while the kids were still sleeping and then jumped in the shower. The kids woke up and they loved their cheesy little baskets and I was pleased.

The cheesy little baskets

Checking out the loot

Mia loved her basket and thought the candy was just way cool (she doesn't get candy that often so she was stoked)

Love the straight from bed look--notice Max checking out Ethan's basket

We all got dressed and went to church. It was the most beautiful mid 70's degree, sunny day. Our church does a huge outreach each Easter at the LA County Fairgrounds. We have the service at the horse racing track - it seats a ton of people- and it is always an amazing service. We had a guest speaker for part of the message- Brian Clay the decathlon gold metal winner- He was awesome and such a committed Christian man. It was a great service. We then went home and got ready for all our guests. Before Mia got her dress too dirty I attempted to take a few pictures of the kids-- they were totally uncooperative.

Owen looking handsome

Mia showing me how her dress twirls around

Checking out a little flower in the grass

My long hair boys

Out of the numerous pictures I attempted to take, this really was the best. The kids, especially Mia, were totally uncooperative--uggg!!!

My little Pole Dancer--haha!!

She had so much fun twirling around the umbrella pole.
Our guests showed up and then we were in full swing and my camera went away. We had a great time with our family and had an awesome Easter celebrating the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!!!
