The Los Angeles County Fair!!!

This past weekend we went to the LA County fair with Chuck, Susan and kids. We had a great time and it has now been a tradition for about 3 or 4 years that we all go to the fair together so we were happy to continue the tradition this year.

Mia liked the animals and was not scared at first but then some pesky goat started eating her clothes and she got a bit freaked out. She was still curious, she just stayed very close to me.

Mia loved loved loved the piggies. She kept saying "piggie come here" and was very upset the piggie wouldn't come here!!!

We also saw the most beautiful horses. They were like majestic and I was just taken with them. Mia also loved the "hoseeeee."

The light in this picture is horrible but I think it is cute of Mia. Notice that she does not have an earring in her right ear. She lost it again. She doesn't really mess with them but for some reason we have lost the right ear twice. I finally went and got her some screw back earrings and they seem to be fine and they are staying in real well.

Every year the fair has snow in one of the buildings (remember-- here in LA we don't get any snow except for in the mountains so the pitiful ice snow in the one building is something the kids look forward to every year) and the kids love to play in it. Mia totally loved playing in it this year!!

And now the compare and contrast I told you I would do.

The Fair 2007-- Mia was 10 months (almost 11 months) old at the time.

I cant believe how little she looks and I cant believe how young Owen looks. Wow have they both changed in a year.

The Fair 2008-- Mia is 22 months

We had a great time and look forward to next year. I think I am going to go back on my own just to go in the shopping buildings. We didn't have enough time to shop so I think I will go back next week on my own.

I was just on my friends blog and I saw this amazing picture of her daughter and her orphanage mate while they were in China over a year ago. I think it is the most adorable picture I have ever seen and I just had to post it. Gracie is the one on the left (if you are looking at the picture) and she is one of the little girls we often go to Disneyland with.

  1. Cute fair pictures. We love going to the fair every year too. That snow exhibit cracks me up! We get the real deal here so no snow exhibits at our fair!

That is a very sweet picture that you found! I also can't believe how much Mia has grown in a year!

  2. Looks like the kids had sooo much fun...
I sooo remember last years post..
And it is truly amazing how much the Mia has changed.. and Owen too..
He looks like a little boy.. and Mia's hair looks thicker and she is just tooo darn cute..
    Have a Great Day...

  3. Hey Christy,

Great pictures from the fair. I really need to trek to LA and go. I can't believe how young Owen looks! I didn't even know that was him! Mia is adorable as usual. It's amazing how much the girls have grown in such a short time. Also, of course I don't mind that you borrowed my picture. My friend sent me another one of the girls sharing a blanket which is also precious. Let's do DLand soon.

  4. What fun pictures! Look like you all had a great time. Boy have Mia and Owen changed a lot. I'm cracking up over the snow pictures -- only in LA.

  5. That looks like so much fun!! I can't believe what a difference a year makes. Wow!!

  6. Okay, Mia's hair is just way too cute in that last collage of photos. I never know where to put the clip without it looking silly. I will use her as my "model" for my own daughter's hair. We desperately need to get rid of the mullet!

  7. Fun! I can't wait to go. We'll be there next Friday afternoon.

I can't believe how much Mia has changed!

  8. Hi Christy,

  9. I LOVE the fair...the fall air...the crisp new feeling of everything!! It's my fav time of the year!!! I remember the pics from you guys going last year....SO COOL!!! Looks like yall had a great time!! Mia is SO ADORABLE!!!

We leave for Disney in a couple of weeks. I'm SO EXCITED. Not sure if you read on my blog..but I have been watching the Disney site for specials and would you believe it....there was a special we qualified for and Disney reimbursed us $742!!!!!! WOW....I was floored!!! The special cut the moderate resort room in half per night. (we have two rooms) I was thrilled to get THAT MUCH money back! Unbelieveable!!!! Anyway...we can't wait to go!!! We'll be there a week!!

Hope yall have a great weekend!!!

  10. It boggles my mind how much older children look from one year to the next. The fair looks like it was a lot of fun except the snow. I'm not much of a snow girl. I should probably move because we get more snow than most in the US.

Love your pictures and that sweet dress that Mia has on.

  11. Ahhh -- the fair always fun! What great photos! Mia is adorable and your boys are too. It is amazing to see how much they change in only a year, isn't it. And your friend's photo from China -- that is just priceless. Have a fun weekend!

  12. Hey girl,

Your fair looks amazing. I never would have imagined that LA County would have a fair like that. Especially all the animals. I love the little piggies too! It makes me think of Wilbur from Charlotte's Web. I live in AL and you would think we would have a HUGE fair (being the hicks that we are :) ), but we don't really have a fair like that at all. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It looks like you guys had so much fun!

  13. Looks like you guys had a great time. The snow picture cracked me up! I remember being fascinated with snow when I lived in California when I was a little girl...but not in Colorado we should probably be getting some sooner than later!

It's crazy how much the kiddo's have changed in one year! Mia is such a beauty!!!!

  14. What a priceless photo of your friend's daughter and her cribmate. I think it's a great idea to try to post a poster. That is a wonderful gift to give to a woman who has given you so much. I hope it all works out.
