**I tagged on Kim's blog to make a list six unspectacular quirks about myself. Unfortunately I am not too exciting so this will be my feeble attempt.
1. I have to have a beverage with me at all time!
Many people know me by my amazingly large cups. I always and I mean always have to have a beverage in my hand. For years it was my huge cup full of diet coke but as I have grown more mature and more addicted, it has evolved into coffee in my huge cup in the morning and diet coke in my huge cup in the afternoon. I am sure many of you have seen my cup in many of the pictures posted on my blog. It is horribly large and horribly ugly. It is the community cup and everyone, including Mia, drink out of it. Good thing I am not a germaphobe!!
2. I have to have chapstick or something for my lips with me at all times!!!
Even Mia plays with chapstick and acts like she is putting it on her lips—very cute!!
3. I don’t like to eat fruit from other places other than home.
I don’t know why I can’t eat fruit other than at home but it is very true! There is something about fruit and preparation. At home or if I prepare it I know I did it a certain way. At restaurants and other places I just don’t know. I will never take fruit from a fruit platter but will eat pretty much anything else from a try or platter. Just a strange fruit issue.
4. I embarrass my friends when I order at a restaurant.
OK, while in college I served tables and I know food can be prepared the way I want it to be—therefore, I ask for it the way I want. I have no issue asking for a list of things on the side or something cooked the way I want. I just figure if I am paying for it, I want it the way I want it. I totally embarrass my friends and they are constantly apologizing for me but I don’t apologize—if you do a good job and not roll your eyes at me, you’re going to get a good tip—what’s wrong with that?? Plus, I am always very nice about it!
5. I am an admitted shopaholic!!
Hi, my name is Christy and I am a shopaholic. You all now know—as if you couldn’t tell from my blog. I just can imagine nothing better in a day than spending it shopping. I love to buy all kinds of things. Before Mia I shopped for my clothes all the time but since girl clothes are far too cute and with a limited budget, I have turned my focus more on Mia’s clothes. I also love to just walk around the mall or Target or anywhere. I just love shopping and can do it all day if my little 18 month old would let me!
6. Finally, I have a very distinctive voice.
I use to weigh 300 pounds (about 9 years ago) and after we were married in 1994 I started to gain weight so I spent much of my adult life until 9 years ago very heavy. 9 years ago I had gastric bypass and lost 145+ pounds but I do look very different than I did much of my adult life. So here is where the voice comes in. I will be in line at a store or chatting at lunch with friends and I will have random people walk up to me and tell me that they don’t recognize me but they know my voice. When I tell them my name they immediately remember me. They literally hear my voice and know who I am—even though I don’t look anything like I use to. This happens to me all the time. Just a week ago I was at Costco and a girl I use to sing in chamber singers with in high school came up to me and said—are you Christy?- When I said yes she said she heard me talking to a lady at the checkout and recognized my voice and knew it must have been me. What is really funny is my mom says Owen has the same voice I had as a kid—poor kid!! Anyway, my voice is very distinctive but also very loud. I have been shushed all my life—ugg!!
Anyway, that is all for now. Hope I didn’t freak any of you out with my strange quirks—haha!!

Hey, we were also married in 1994! March 12. Caroline was born on our 10th anniversary (which I think is why they matched us with her)
ReplyDeleteWhen is your anniversary?
Teresa
Hi Teresa! (Hi too Christy :-))
ReplyDeleteWe were also married in 1994 -- February.
No coincidences with our anniversary for Kailee (or birthdays, or anything I can tell...but she is just so perfect for us!
I enjoyed reading your list. You didn't freak me out at all. I am probably the quirkiest person ever! Congrats on your weight loss and for keeping it off! You look great!
